Finding locations that work for each scene in the opening will be a key part of the planning process. I have a few places in mind that isn't necessarily hard to film or find.
Planning: Mise-en-Scene (Set)
For our film opening, we plan to film in two main locations: the beach and my house. These settings are important to the story and help show the contrast between the scenes.
For the beach scenes, we are considering a few locations such as Hollywood Beach and Fort Lauderdale Beach. The beach setting helps create a calm and happy atmosphere and represents freedom and connection between the two sisters. The open space, sand, and ocean will help make the scenes feel peaceful.
The house will be used for the inside scenes. This setting contrasts with the beach and creates a more quiet and emotional mood. Filming in my house allows us to include personal items like photos on the wall, which helps make the story feel more realistic.
These locations were chosen to support the emotions and themes of our film opening.
Planning: Mise-en-Scene (Lighting)
For the beach scenes, we want to use bright, natural lighting to create vibrant colors. Filming during the day will help make the blues of the ocean and sky stand out and give the scenes an upbeat, happy feeling. The sunlight will show the warmth of the moments between the sisters and make the beach feel lively and full of life.
In the bedroom parts, colors are still there, just way softer and not as bright as on the beach. It feels like that makes a big difference for the mood. We are thinking about using light from the windows or a light kit to keep things calm and kind of emotional. The beach has all that happy, lively vibe with brighter stuff, but inside the house it turns more serious and reflective, so toning down the colors shows that switch pretty well.
That lighting difference sort of highlights how the feelings change between outside and inside, without messing up the overall look of the film. This helps everything come together seamlessly without having an unclear film opening.
